John Howard made a post highlighting the fact that you can disable or enable hardware virtualization support under VS 2005 R2 SP1.  You may be wondering why you would want to do this - and I have two reasons:

  1. For those of you who are actively testing the beta release you can use this to easily identify whether any bugs you see are a result of the hardware virtualization support (just turn the feature off and see if the problem still happens)

  2. It easily enables you to determine what sort of performance improvements hardware virtualization are providing you with.  I recently tested one of my NetWare 5.1 virtual machines with this setting - and hardware virtualization support gives me a 4.3x performance boost :-)

Cheers,
Ben
