  • Look forward to trying it out. However, the hotfix for the "bug check and shuts down the OS" problem on AMD x64 CPUs is nowhere to be found. The connect website says to look at the release notes, while that section in the release notes just links back to the front page of connect.

The site is very poorly worded.  The hotfix for Windows is not yet available.

  • Any gotcha for converting VirtualPC VMs to this release?
  • I see "Offline VHD Mounting."  Does this mean that we will be able to add/delete files, precompact, etc. without starting the VM?
  • I cannot see the virtual server 2005 R2 beta 2 on the microsoft website, how can I get hold of this software?

  • Has anyone got this working on Windows Vista RC1 (x86)? I've installed the Web Service, as required, and the VS install went smoothly, but the web site doesn't work. I can connect to it, but all of the text is in the default font, and there are no images (i.e. the links appear broken).

Can anyone suggest what the problem might be? It looks like it may be an access issue (a problem accessing files in the /VirtualServer web directory), but the site does work in a basic form: it says there are no virtual machines installed, and shows recent VS events from the event log.
  • I have been trying (for a few days now) to get my Windows 2003 32bit Server running 32bit VS2005 SP1 B2 to let me install Windows 2003 64bit...  won't let me...

    I then installed a 64 bit HOST OS (win2003eer2) and 64bit VS2005 R2 SP1 B2 and it STILL won't let me install a 64bit Guest OS...

I would LOVE to be able to test out 64bit DC's and SQL Servers but it appears I am having problems...  VMWare Server ran on top of my server (Pentium D 930 with VT) no problem..

when will VS support this or what am i doing wrong?

    thanks!
  • Hi there, struck the same problem as Thomas trying to run Virtual Server R2 SP1 on Vista RC1.  Anyone else got it working and any tips or tricks?  Cheers, Dave
  • How do we perform 'Volume Shadow Copy Service support'?
Is there any script available for doing that?
