Virtual Machine Additions for Linux Installation Log File

Virtual Machine Additions for Linux Installation Log File

  • Comments 6

Just a short note today - but this is useful information that I can't seem to find documented anywhere.  If you're trying to install Virtual Machine Additions for Linux and are hitting problems there is a rather detailed log file that is created at /var/log/vmadd-install.log.  Looking at this file will usually give you a good insight as to what is going wrong.

Cheers,
Ben

  • What puzzles me more is: where do I find the VM additions for Virtual PC?

  • IIRC, VM Additions for Linux have been a download on connect.microsoft.com. However, officially they are for Virtual Server. I think Ben mentioned, that you can just copy the ISO file from Virtual Server to Virtual PC. Ben's announcementent: http://blogs.msdn.com/virtual_pc_guy/archive/2006/04/03/566273.aspx
