TankWars under Virtual PC 2007

TankWars under Virtual PC 2007

This is a fun game.  For anyone who is familiar with scorched earth will know how this game works.  You control a small tank that is pitted against other tanks, and you take turns trying to blow each other up.  Actually, now that I think about this - this game really is a lot like scorched earth - but I still like playing it:

As you proceed through the game, you get money for winning rounds, which you can then spend on new weapons to use in future games.  And, this game runs perfectly under Virtual PC.

Cheers,
Ben

  • For those addicted to this type of game : http://atanks.sourceforge.net/ <- doesn't need vpc, but ya know..

  • Oh my, my friend and I played Tank Wars sooooo much when we were younger. I wonder if I can find a copy anywhere. I don't even know how we got the one we played. It ran too fast when he got his 486, we had to turn the Turbo switch off (remember that thing?)!

  • Ryan -

The trick on fast computers is to hold down the 'alt' key when changing the angle / speed.  This forces it to single step the change - otherwise the number zooms by too fast.

    Cheers,

    Ben

  • All that time and I never knew about the Alt-key trick. When the Pentiums came out we found a DOS utility that somehow faked a slower clock speed for old games so we were still able to play. I don't remember where we got the utility either.

I found out later that everyone else on the planet played Scorched Earth instead. I'm glad you posted!
