Hyper-V Program Manager
Jose has done a great post on how to store VHDs on network shares when using Hyper-V. Go check it out here: http://blogs.technet.com/josebda/archive/2008/06/24/storing-windows-server-2008-hyper-v-files-on-an-cifs-smb-file-share.aspx
Cheers, Ben
It is very useful. but I had one problem, the VM stopped working after 10 hours, event log shows below error messages:
'Remote-WinXP' Microsoft Emulated IDE Controller (Instance ID {83F8638B-8DCA-4152-9EDA-2CA8B33039B4}): Failed to power on with Error 'The specified network name is no longer available.' (0x80070040). (Virtual machine A6A8EA98-74FE-4A9E-A4E7-5AC3ABB1BF0B)
The problems occurred on all version I tried (RC0, RC1, RTM), very consistant. The file server (a Win2008 box with DC role) serves VHDs in network share for virtual server 2003R1 without problem, so I guess it is something Hyper-V related.
