Talking about core virtualization at Microsoft (Hyper-V, Virtual PC and Virtual Server).
A couple of people have contacted me and reported performance issues with Windows XP Mode on systems without hardware virtualization support. One thing that I did not mention in my post last week was that you will need to upgrade the integration components on the Windows XP virtual machine after applying the update to the physical computer.
You can do this by:
At this stage the integration components installer should start automatically – and will require a reboot when it is finished.
You can check to make sure you have the right version of the integration components installed by:
The version number is displayed on the dialog that is now opened. Windows XP Mode ships with version 14.0.7600.16392 of the integration components. After the upgrade you should have version 14.1.7600.16403 – like this:
Cheers, Ben
Still can't get any app auto published although my integration components are already up-to-date. Why is auto publishng so fragile? Half a dozen users are complaining on the internet that auto publish doesn't work for them. Tried reinstalling, shutting down the VM, turning off Auto Publishing then turning it back on but no go. HELP.
ok I know way off topic but I've been doing alot of dism/djoin stuff to offline vhd's now I just need the eqquivalent of wmic for offline vhd files! Something like wmic /vhd:someos.vhd os get name etc..

I'm still using the older Microsoft VPC since I like the drag-n-drop functionallity. Do the newer integration components you mention for Windows VPC also work for MS VPC?
Thanks

No, they are for Windows Virtual PC only
Cheers,
Ben
On tools menu, I have only "Disable integration features" and "settings".
No "Upgrade Integration Components "
Thanks for your help
Idem for me, no "Upgrade Integration Components"
I am unable to upgrade the virtual machine. All i have is a black screen and the install integration components under tools does not work...What do i do now?
Does automatic updates do anything in a Virtual PC
