That is a ridiculous assertion. By looking at the posts on this forum, there seems to be a great deal of people interested in using Virtual PC for that very reason. The only thing keeping from buying VPC is the poor joystick support. Why can't Microsoft spend it's countless billions of dollars on something that desktop users and PC enthusiasts
want instead of something they think they need, like another buggy, virus prone operating system (Longhorn) ?

IIRC, VPC runs on XP Home. It's just not supported officially.

As for VPC being targetted for home users for gaming. It's not and I doubt it ever will be.(at least in it's current incarnation) Creating a product for emulation of old DOS games and a couple of Windows games that do not work on Windows XP would not be profitable.

Also VPC is quite clunky and confusing to use for someone who just wants to play their games and who don't want to worry about setting up operating systems and such.

The absolute best way to play old games on new systems is to use a port of the game, like this Alone in the Dark port: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=104884

Man, it would be nice if Virtual PC were supported on XP Home ... would be a good product to target to home users wanting to play old games.
