I downloaded all of the patches for VV2007 and I still got the ...."not able to complete this operation" message. So I uninstalled 2007 and installed 2010....I STILL get the message. What could I be doing wrong?

Please let me know if I need to post this somewhere else, but I'm not having much luck finding an answer elsewhere as yet...

New job this week, new laptop - HP G62 with Win 7 Home Prem, registered the trial version of Office Prof 2010, downloaded Visio Viewer 2010.

I have Chrome as def browser, but IE 8 is also working normally.

Trying to view Visio diagrams embedded in Word docs, either saved as 97/2003 or 2007 versions, double click on the diag and all I get is the following error pop-up...

"The server application, source file, or item cannot be found. Make sure that the application is properly installed.......".

Right-click on the vsd and it recognizes Visio as I get a convert document option, click that and I get the same error above.

Any ideas please ?

Thanks

To me it works with Visio Viewer 2010 (Beta). In my mind, we should try with the latest one first as it will include all fixes there.

The risk to apply many patches and run the security patch many worser than using beta release :)

Post-Scriptum #2 : a simpler way to do it, OTHER than installing Word on the PC where Visio is installed (I already could think of that one by myself).

I have downloaded diagrams of various IT equipments on http://www.visiocafe.com/, and I wanted to use them in a Word document that I write on a PC where Visio is not installed. I've tried the two solutions above, but to no avail. So I opened them on a another PC where Visio is installed (but where Word is not), exported them as PNG pictures, and then took them back to the first PC. If anyone knows of a simpler way to do it, I'd glad to read about it.
