I only update with an update that includes Setup & Deployment, Windows Forms and WPF improvements and fix the user interface and icons.
I updated to u1 (Win81, vs'13X). Took maybe 2 minutes. I was expecting a lot longer. I tried for [maybe] the first time to open a 2012 u3 .sln. It would not open, saying it did not know what to do with it. Did that two more times thinking it was crazy. I rebooted back to Win7 '12Xu3. The same .sln is fine here.
Moral. 2013 u1 does not work with 2012 u3 slns.
How about fixing the signing ? If I publish a click once I shouldnt have to sign manually to get past the "smart screen" in Windows 8. Make an option in project properties to properly sign both the publish manifest and the executable at the same time.
Permission problem. I don't remember having this problem before, but it wasn't just 2013 u1; it was accessing the sln from another boot/account. I did not get a useful report from the sln load (...not a valid sln); had to load a project before I got something useful (... could not access .vcxproj).
