  • I think a great getting started topic would be "Configuring Role-based security permission on TFS components". Help me understand how I can customize the security permission on the new taskboard and new workitems.

  • Great suggestion.

  • What's the best way to delete a project when you're done with it?

  • @Casey, please see blogs.msdn.com/.../how-to-delete-a-team-project-from-tfs-on-azure.aspx

  • What is the best way to add start and end dates to a Task type work item.

  • Vinay, if you are using the hosted TFS service, then you are not able to customize work item types to add start or end dates. The Scrum process template does define start/end dates for Tasks. However, both the Agile and CMMI templates do have start/end dates on tasks, so you could create a team project with one of those templates. All the Agile planning tools will work regardless of what process template you use.

  • I think it's  a great technical mutation in TFS to be hosted with Microsoft

but please ,, any one can help me to getting start with team foundation server

  • Thanks Greg the way I got around in the hosted model is by adding the start and finish date fields at the query level and then editing the work item from there.  I have already setup my projects as Agile and hence would not want to change to SCRUM. Another question can I migrate a project that is built out as Agile to SCRUM.

  • @Mohammed, if you are interested in Team Foundation Server as installed locally, then you can start here: msdn.microsoft.com/.../dd631902(v=vs.110).aspx

  • @Vinay, there is really no way to migrate an existing project from Agile to SCRUM. Sorry.

  • Can I use BIDS 2008 with tfspreview?

  • VS 2008 cannot connect to tfspreview.com accounts. You need the VS11 Beta, or the 2010 release, with a  patch.

  • I am getting the below error while trying to create team project from IE 10 (it works with firefox and cookies are enabled). Also when I try to access my tfspreview site from the Metro IE10 then I am not able to proceed further from a page where it asks me to select a authentication provider. It does list WLID provider but nothing happens when I click on it. Same when I try to connect to tfspreview from VS 11 beta Ultimate.

A required anti-forgery token was not supplied or was invalid. Ensure that cookies are enabled in your browser.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • @Gregg

Is there any way we can use an outside build service? We use TeamCity in conjunction with OctopusDeploy, but I can't seem to get TeamCity to connect to TFSPreview. I'm getting the error: "Resource not available for anonymous access. Client authentication required." which I'm guessing has to do with the authentication being used for the Team Foundation Service

  • @byter10

The TFS OM has full support for connecting to the team foundation service.  It will be up to Team City to update their application to work with the new authentication methods.
