I am a strong believer in enabling as many people as possible to participate in the information age. So I really appreciate initiatives like these:
But what about people in the US and other so called developed countries? Who cares about them? The Digital Divide is not happening exclusively in China, Africa or in rural India. It happens in your our neighborhood. In Germany, in the US, France, the UK and many other countries.
People who can just pay for food or dwelling can certainly not afford USD 20-40 for Internet access or USD 300-500 for a decent PC. Let us make sure we do not forget our neighbors next door. Everyone needs access to affordable software, hardware and the Internet. The Internet impacts mankind across the globe, regardless of race, gender, age, religion and country of residence. Either all participate or everyone loses.
