We confirmed this was an indexing issue and deployed a fix that has improved performance in the impacted database as of 2/27/2014 23:44 UTC. We are no longer seeing errors and considering this incident resolved.
This issue identified a gap in our performance testing and we will investigate ways to prevent this in the future.
Thank you for your patience.********We are currently investigating issues with Application Insights. Some customers may be seeing intermittent gaps in remote dependency data. It appears this issue was introduced during a deployment on 2/20. Our DevOps team is focused on confirming the root cause but believe it is related to indexing issues on one of our customer DBs. We are working to deploy a mitigation and will evaluate if this reduces the errors we are seeing.
