Bug fixes:

  1. <param>Text</param> was not handled correctly.
  2. Comments in <% %> blocks were not included in spell checking.
  3. Spell checking terminated prematurely under certain conditions after encountering <% %> block.
  4. REM VB comments were not always handled correctly.
  5. Vista setup issues fixed (hopefully)

New features:

  1. It is now possible to add word to "ignore" list. The list is global and is stored as a text file.
  2. You can also add words to the Office active custom dictionary.

  • Thanks

  • Why do i need a spell checker in my HTML or javascript!

  • After I installed this version (I uninstalled 2.0 first), I received an error from Visual Studio when starting it.

    Running "regsvr32 c:\Program Files\VS 2008 Spell Checker Add-In\VSSpellChecker.dll" fixed the problem though.

  • Hi, im running Vista and VS2008 Pro.

I have install the addon but it does not appear in VS.

After running regsvr32 VSSpellChecker.dll I get the following message.

The module "c:\Program Files\VS 2008 Spell Checker Add-In\VSSpellChecker.dll" was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80070005.

  • Hi, I realised what was causing the problem.

I was executing a standard command prompt and on Vista even though your user account has admin rights you need to change it to run with admin priviledges.

    To do this ...

Click on Start, go to Programs -> Accessories, right click on Command Prompt and choose Run as administrator.

You will be asked to approve the action, the command window that appears will have Administrator in the title.

Then you can run the command ...

    regsvr32 "c:\Program Files\VS 2008 Spell Checker Add-In\VSSpellChecker.dll"

  • I installed it on WinXp Sp2, VS 2005 Team Edition but it is not working... It is shown in the Add-in Manager, but there is no option in the TOOLS menu. I have Resharper and GhostDoc installed as well. Any ideas about the problems?

  • I installed it on winxp sp2, vs 2008 professional edition but it is not working ... It is shown in the Add-in Manager, but there is no option in the Tools menu. I have Resharper installed as well. What is wrong for it?

    btw: I use regsvr32 "c:\Program Files\VS 2008 Spell Checker Add-In\VSSpellChecker.dll" and it is don't luck for me.

  • Maybe there is a bug when it is installed with Resharper. I have the same problem as you Tony but in VS 2005.

    Any help on that matter?

  • I just installed on VS2008 Team Suite. I already have GhostDoc installed. It doesn't work. I tried disabling GhostDoc from the add-in menu, but that doesn't help either.

  • have you considered extending this to also use the MS Grammer checker? if you dont have time, is the source available for someone else to add that?
