I have the previous NON-BETA version installed; do I need to uninstall this first?
If you are referring to VS2008 - you do NOT need to uninstall it first. VS2010 will install side-by-side with VS2008 and VS2005.

What was the last release build before this one? Wasn't there one other release build after the beta?
There were some SLCTP builds of VS2010 that were done between Beta2 and RC which a small number of people had access to. If you had one of those installed, then yes you need to uninstall it before installing the RC build.
ohhhhh I am so mad at this tools it keeps giving some message contact support the installer is not working. well I am support and the only one on this computer so how do i fix it with such a lame message. there is now clue to where it installed a log where what happened is.
