• Great, I have been waiting for it for long time.

  • Just a thought: Is VS2010 Express allowed for professional development? I mean, using VS2010 Express on a daily basis for business?

  • Yes Roland it can be used on daily basis for business...

  • I work for a small Navy R&D IT department, and we're tight on money (no, really), so I've used VWD to learn a bit and also to develop very simple, one-off internal sites.

Following up on a previous post: why does VWD now show the following note/warning on startup?

"For Evaluation Purposes Only. Use of this software should be limited to evaluation purposes only."

    ?

    Thanks,

  • Eclipse and Netbeans are full fledged IDEs that are completely free and cross platform.

Microsoft, the richest company on the planet still charges outrageous fees for tools so you can develop on their expensive OS. Go Figure.

  • Jim, In the license terms it states that this is a trial edition until you obtain a product key. Once you activate the product using the "Register Product" option from the Help menu it will say that it is licensed.

  • Thanks, WebDevTools, for the reply. I skimmed the (five- or six-page) EULA and didn't see that. You guys are great, thanks again.

  • Hi

I can't seem to install the Silverlight 4 tools. I get an error that my computer doesn't meet requirements:

    Installation Requirements:

Visual Studio 2010 RC or Visual Web Developer Express 2010 RC or Visual Phone Developer Express 2010 that matches the language version of Silverlight Tools 4 must be installed before installation of Silverlight Tools can continue. Silverlight Tools is available in other languages at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=177432.

Any idea? There doesn't seem to be a Silverlight 4 Tools for non-RC versions of the software.

    Thanks

    Chris

  • hello,

    thanks

    kevin

  • Can MS Visual Web Developer 2010 Express use in business ?

Can we use it for free in business for a long period ?

  • geentea,

Yes to both question. You do need to register the product to use it after 30 days.

  • @jamlew:

I have VS2010 RTM installed on my D:\ drive and tried to install Silverlight 4 tools.

Downloaded from the link you suggested (tools version RC2, which installs on VS2010 RTM).

    Thanks
