ASP.NET MVC 1.0 RC can now be installed with Web Platform Installer: http://www.microsoft.com/web/channel/products/WebPlatformInstaller.aspx
Here is a quick description of Web Platform Installer from the Web Platform Installer website:
“The Web Platform Installer (Web PI) is a simple tool that installs Microsoft's entire Web Platform, including IIS, Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition, SQL Server 2008 Express Edition and the .NET Framework. Using the Web Platform Installer’s user interface, you can choose to install either specific products or the entire Microsoft Web Platform onto your computer. The Web PI also helps keep your products up to date by always offering the latest additions to the Web Platform.“
I tried it out and was really impressed. It is a great way to get an overview of what web related components are already installed and you can easily keep tabs on all of the latest and greatest downloads available. When the RTM version of ASP.NET MVC 1.0 is released, you will also be able to find it on Web Platform Installer.
Hope this helps you get started with the ASP.NET MVC Release Candidate!

Yeah! Looks like this installer works on Windows 7. I cannot download product.xml b/c I am assuming the fact I am behind a firewall (not using IE proxy settings?). Will have to try it when I get home...

Thank you for submitting this cool story - Trackback from DotNetShoutout
Can the Web PI be command line driven to automate the install of specific components? That would really be a welcomed feature.!!!

Not sure whether you know this, but it doesn't seem to work when you install Visual Web Developer 2008 Express *in the same Web Platform Installer session* as ASP.NET MVC RC.
