Tomorrow will be my last day as a Microsoft employee. Over the last 6+ years I’ve been able to tackle some great challenges and learn a great deal about the software industry and the real world challenges of large enterprise organizations. However, my longest previous tenure at one employer was 3 years, so the real surprise is that this ride lasted so long. It was certainly a great ride as I had the opportunity to help numerous customers solve some fundamental challenges around integration through thought leadership, software solutions, and service offerings. This could not have been done by myself so above all, Microsoft put me in a position to work with very talented and committed people. For that I will always be grateful and appreciative of my time here.
I could go into a list of reasons of why I’m leaving, but the only one that matters is that I see an opportunity to do something that can’t be done at Microsoft. This is not meant as a slight but rather an acknowledgement that our paths must diverge if I’m going to pursue this opportunity. For those that have followed my work in the SOA space, I believe my best work is yet to come so please stay tuned…
