Installing a virtual machine using the factory

The following is a sequence of simple steps you need to follow when installing a virtual machine using the VSTS Rangers factory. This example is based on Hyper-V, however, it can be used to install other virtualised environments and physical devices as well.

Create new VM

We recommend that you refer to the document “Virtualization of Visual Studio 2010 – VSTS Rangers Base Image Guide”, topic “Create new Hyper-V Virtual Machine” for a step by step guide of creating a basic virtual machine.

When you see the task suspension dialog, configure TFS manually using the Team Foundation Server Administration Console.

For MOSS based installations use the Advanced configuration option.
