This post is part of an ongoing series of Rangers introductions. See An index to all Rangers covered on this blog for more details.

Who Are You?

I am Daniel Oliveira, an ALM Consultant that lives in the South, and loves listening to rock n’ roll, running and bicycle riding and to be with parents, sister and girlfriend.

I’ve been working with Visual Studio since the 2005 beta 1 version. That was my very first contact with the Microsoft ALM platform, that time called Visual Studio Team System.

What makes you “tick”?

I love challenges. I feel very passionate about improving the SDLC and to show that ALM is much more than just SDLC.

What is really great about it is that you can unleash the potential of smart and dedicated people with the right mind-set and the right tools. J

Where do you live?

I live in Curitiba – PR – Brazil.

Where is the place you call home?

I’ve been living here for my whole life so I can pretty much call Curitiba home.

Why are you active in the Rangers program?

I started my career in the Microsoft Innovation Center here in Curitiba. Since I started in .NET platform I am deeply involved with the software community. I have had some great opportunities that came from this involvement with the community. One of them was to become a Most Valuable Professional in 2008.

The Rangers program is a huge opportunity to work with the greatest minds in ALM nowadays and also to deliver a great contribution to the community.

What is the best Rangers project you worked on and why?

I am involved in three excellent projects, but the one that I feel more enthusiastic about is the Build Guidance Project. I believe that automated build is one of the most important aspects in the ALM process and that people  still have many difficulties about it. I am sure that this project will deliver a significant value for ALM-involved people.
