Believe it or not, Joel McHale, Ryan Seacrest and I have more in common than just our dashing good looks. We’re all part of Ford’s Random Acts of Fusion campaign promoting the all-new 2013 Ford Fusion.

Ford recently held a contest to bring one lucky person to Joel’s hometown of Seattle to see all the sites. The winner, Kristina from Stillman Valley, Illinois, cruised around the Emerald City in a new Fusion and even got a behind the scenes tour of Microsoft—Ford’s technology partner in developing Ford SYNC. I was on-hand to welcome Kristina and her friend to our campus, show off our fabled Garage and show them the some of the main benefits of Ford SYNC, on a bright and sunny day—clearly it doesn’t rain here all the time.

I’ve got to say, the highlight of the day for me was getting to play with the new 2013 Ford Fusion, which features Ford SYNC with MyFord Touch. I love getting an opportunity to show off the hard work that both Ford and Microsoft engineers have put into these cars. The commitment by both companies to deliver an amazing end-user experience is apparent when we get to sit somebody in the driver’s seat and show them the system. By using SYNC, I helped Kristina explore Redmond and even showed her where we could grab some ice cream on this hot summer day. Being able to control your phone, media player and navigation all with your voice really helps this car excel especially if you’re new to the area.

Ford SYNC, powered by Microsoft, provides connectivity and voice technology to make your experience in the car safer and more convenient no matter where you’re from—Illinois, London or Shanghai. In fact, over the last few months, I’ve been able to help Ford launch SYNC around the world. One of my favorite parts is watching people use SYNC’s voice commands for the first time and seeing how delighted they are when SYNC easily understands them. This time was no exception.

It was a blast to show the winners around Microsoft. Maybe next time Joel and Ryan will make the trip and the three of us good-looking gents can hang out around Seattle. Feel free to encourage them by sending Joel and Ryan a quick tweet.
