Processor State Value Workaround for Windows Embedded Standard 7

    Posted By Windows Embedded Team

If you are running Windows Embedded Standard 7 (Standard 7) on some devices, you may need to manually set the processor state to 100% to avoid slow performance problems if your processor is not correctly responding to an increase in processor state. This is a known issue on Intel Haswell boards but can happen on other boards as well.

A work-around for this issue is to manually set both the minimum and maximum CPU values for processor state to 100%.

To manually set the CPU values:

    1. On your device, open Control Panel > Power Options and click Change plan settings next to the power plan currently in use.
    2. Click Change advanced power settings.
    3. Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.
    4. Expand Processor power management, then expand Minimum processor state.
    5. Click Setting (%): and change the value to 100%.
    6. Expand Maximum process state.
    7. Click Setting (%): and change the value to 100%.
    8. Click OK.

KB 2929755 and KB 2912390 for Windows Embedded Standard 7 are Online Only Updates

    Posted By Windows Embedded Team

Two KBs, issued as part of the April 2014 Security Update for Windows Embedded Standard 7 (Standard 7) are considered "online only" updates. They cannot be correctly added to an answer file and deployed using the Standard 7 Toolkit but must instead be applied to an online image. These KBs are:

    • KB 2929755 - Out of memory when you load some image resources in a Windows application.
    • KB 2912390 - Vulnerability in Direct2D could allow remote code execution

Both of these KBs require that KB 2670838 be installed first, before they can be installed.

If you attempt to install these KBs by adding them to an answer file and installing them with Image Configuration Editor (ICE) or Image Builder Wizard (IBW), they will not be correctly installed and you will receive an error.

These two updates are not being offered on Windows Embedded Developer Update (WEDU) because of this online only requirement.
