Windows 7 Australia Blog
Alright … so … you asked for it, we listened and now it’s here!
Many of you will be pleased to find out that this morning we announced the availability of a limited pilot of Windows 7 Family Pack in Australia. At launch I asked you to ‘watch this space’ … and now, following your feedback we are pleased to make this offer available in time for Christmas.
Family Pack entitles you to three licenses of Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade, in either 32-bit or 64-bit, all for the tidy price of $249 AU (RRP), while stocks last. So now it’s easier than ever to upgrade the family to Windows 7 – and even easier to connect your PCs, notebooks, netbooks and kids PC’s, in the same visually-rich environment that makes everyday use simpler and more engaging.
With Windows 7 Home Premium, you’ll experience everything from awesome entertainment capabilities through to easier home networking with HomeGroup which allows you to share your favourite photos, videos and music with other networked Windows 7 PCs. Windows 7 has many great new features including advanced window navigation and personalisation with several new improvements to Microsoft Aero® desktop, as well as Remote Media Streaming and improved options for different media formats.
And what are we doing for the folk who already bought three upgrade licenses to Windows 7 Home Premium prior to 30 November? For those of you who purchased 3 licences at once, we have a limited offer of three complimentary Wireless Comfort Desktops, each featuring a wireless keyboard and mouse set. These keyboards and mice are designed by us, and are optimised for use with Windows 7 – in fact I use one of these every day. To find out if you qualify, contact Microsoft Customer Service on 13 20 58.
Please note that to you’ll need to provide proof of purchase to qualify for the three complimentary Wireless Comfort Desktops. Acceptable proof of purchase will be a single receipt showing the purchase of three Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade licenses in a single transaction or up to three receipts showing the purchase of separate Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade licenses that were transacted on the same credit card. Receipts must be dated prior to November 30, 2009.
Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade Family Pack will only be available at the following participating Australian retailers, while stocks last: Betta Electrical, Bing Lee, David Jones, Dick Smith, Harvey Norman, JB Hi Fi, Myer, Officeworks, Retravision, The Good Guys, WOW Sight and Sound.

Can we get it on-line? And what if we already had to purchase 1, and still want 2 more?
Congrats on listening to feedback, Microsoft has long treated Australians shabbily, with inflated prices and I hope this is the start of a new trend.
Still far to much higher than equivalent US prices!
Now that MSFT has successfully allowed the family pack for Australia, our next step is getting everyone to support $100 being knocked off the Win7 prices.
A number of our participating retailers have web sites where you can order online – I encourage you to check them out. Family Pack is only available as a three license pack – so can’t be broken up and sold separately as individual licenses.
We have 4 PCs in our home - is there a 4 pack deal available? We have one PC on Vista Ultimate x64, one on Vista Home Premium x64, and two on 32 bit Windows XP Professional.
Ideally I'd like to upgrade them all to their nearest Windows 7 equivalent - what's the best available deal for doing that? Considering the appalling experience we've had with Vista x64, W7 should really be available as a bug fix, but if I can upgrade everyone's PC for a reasonable fee like under A$300 I'd consider it, especially since I understand it would allow our home network setup to be simplified if everyone was running W7.
Officeworks say that they will not be selling it before December 9th... Looks like there is an embargo on the product until then

Hi Alan,
Try another retailer listed below, as many have it in store already.
Betta Electrical, Bing Lee, David Jones, Dick Smith, Harvey Norman, JB Hi Fi, Myer, Retravision, The Good Guys, WOW Sight and Sound.
Could I please have a response to my 30 November queries?
Can you mix 32 and 64 bit versions?
I have Vista Business. Does Win 7 family pack have to be installed OVER Vista - or can Win 7 Family pack be installed after re-formatting HDD and simply inserting Vista disc for Reg #??
I would like to remove all traces of Vista!!<G> Tks
Looks like a good deal but it's hard to find in the stores. Tried Hardly Normal and JB at Cannington, WA and neither had heard of it (tho' they admitted other potential customers had asked about it). Is it still on a camel on the Nullabour?
Hello Pargy,
Unfortunately the Family Pack only comes as a 3 user license. If you are wanting to put it on a forth device the best and most cost effective option would be to purchase a single upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium from your local reseller.
Hi Jack,
There is limited stocks of the Windows 7 Family Pack, so I would suggest checking with another reseller in your area.
The resellers taking part in this offer are: Betta Electrical, Bing Lee, David Jones, Dick Smith, Harvey Norman, JB Hi Fi, Myer, Officeworks, Retravision, The Good Guys, WOW Sight and Sound.
Hi Anna,
A Windows 7 upgrade must be started within the previous operating system (Vista or XP) however you will have the option to complete a clean installation which will "remove all traces of Vista" for you.
There is a good link on the Microsoft website to assist with preparation and advises about the clean installation upgrade which may assist you further here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/help/upgrading-from-windows-vista-to-windows-7-custom
this is wonderful, very good. Windows 7.
