The web has never looked so beautiful…to so many.

25 million people globally have downloaded Internet Explorer 9 Beta to experience the web sites they love in a whole new way.  That makes it our most rapidly adopted browser of all time.  Today we’ve made available Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) Release Candidate (RC). It’s another key milestone for our development team as IE9 RC is feature complete. It also means we’re headed towards final Release to Web.

IE9 RC has taken the feedback from these 25 million beta testers and made important improvements and inclusions since the beta.  IE9 RC includes:

-          Significant performance improvements in browser speed. According to SunSpider tests, IE9 RC is 35% faster than IE9 Beta.

-          Enhancements to the user interface such as new ways of handling notifications, ability to place tabs on their own separate row, and we’ve evolved the site pinning functionality.

-          Support for additional HTML5 and web standards including Geolocation, semantic tags and WebM video when users have a codec installed on Windows

-          New Tracking Protection technology to put users in control of their privacy online. This feature protects against many forms of online monitoring, while Tracking Protection Lists enable users to control which “third party sites” can track their browsing when online.

IE9 RC signals that now is the time for developers to get their sites ready and join Microsoft in creating a more beautiful web.
