Windows 7 Australia Blog
Today we’re launching the latest version of the world’s most used browser - Internet Explorer 9.
Many of you may already have been using Internet Explorer 9. With over 40 million Beta downloads, it is the most downloaded Beta version for an Internet Explorer release ever. Thank you for trying it out and for giving us your feedback. We’ve made over 2,000 improvements to Internet Explorer 9 based on your input.
I think that one of the reasons why people have been keen to try the Beta and to give us their feedback is that the web is an increasingly significant part of people lives. The Neilsen Netview study tells us that, on average, Australians spend over 43 hours per month on their PCs and internal research shows that Windows customers spend almost 60 per cent of their time online when they’re at home. With that in mind, we’ve developed Internet Explorer 9 for people who love the web - it’s where they’re informed, entertained and where they socialise. For them, it’s about the sites they love and that insight really informed our development process.
What people care about on the Web is their sites, not their browser and that’s why Internet Explorer 9 is about making those sites shine. With Internet Explorer 9 the browser gets out of the way, taking advantage of some of the great features of Windows 7 to make it easier and faster to get to the content you’re interested in.
Interent Explorer 9 also offers the performance that the modern web demands. It’s an all-around fast browser and takes advantage of the power of the whole PC to dramatically improve web browsing performance with fully hardware-accelerated and interoperable HTML5.
You can see how fast IE9 is for yourself by running the demos.
The latest version of Internet Explorer is also designed to be the most trusted browser. Tracking Protection has been included to give you peace of mind so you feel in control of what data you are sharing as you move around the Web.
So, with the launch of Internet Explorer 9, we’re taking the opportunity to celebrate the beauty of the web, and the developers and designers who are making this new richer, more immersive web possible.

I still prefer firefox and chrome
Like many others' comments I've seen; IE9 appears to be rubbish !!! It installed automatically on both my vista & Windows 7 PCs as an update. every time I click on a microsoft related hyperlink (more about individual windows updates) it causes a crash of IE offers to find a solution online and close program. very difficult to close the IE windows.
Also: did not like the look or functionality of IE9; couldn't find how to get rid of bing and have goole as search default.
I have now given up-uninstalled IE9 and gone back to IE8-where I was satisfied and didn'y need any upgrade.
sorry to say but i agree with the above post IE is to buggy
I have to disaprove of this update, a few days of using IE9 and I reverted back to 8, I found it was a step backwards from what made Explorer my browser of choice, It seems that Microsoft are trying to imitate their competition in Google Chrome, and in doing so have alienated their own fanbase, I am considering switching to Google Chrome if future instalments of Explorer follow this pattern.
