Windows Azure SQL Database Marketplace
Editor's Note: This post comes from Sarah Fender, Director of Windows Azure Product Marketing.
Today we’re announcing that Microsoft’s public auditor Deloitte, has issued a Service Organization Control (SOC) 2 Type 2 report for Windows Azure in security, availability and confidentiality trust principles. This announcement is the latest step in ensuring that Windows Azure provides unparalleled security, privacy and compliance as part of our “enterprise-ready” cloud services.
The SOC 2 Type 2 report includes an assessment against the Cloud Security Alliance’s (CSA) Cloud Controls Matrix (CCM), a set of security principles designed to help customers choose a cloud provider.
Given today’s complex regulatory environment, this means that Windows Azure customers will experience a greatly simplified evaluation process, enabling them to take advantage of the cloud without a protracted security assessment.
Windows Azure is the first cloud provider to receive the CCM attestation as part of its SOC 2 audit as recommended by the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and CSA earlier this year.
