My Visual Studio 2012 Menu looks like

If you want to do it run this poweshell

Set-ItemProperty -Path HKCU:\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\11.0\General -Name SuppressUppercaseConversion -Type DWord -Value 1
Or change the registry

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\11.0\General\SuppressUppercaseConversion

That’s it!!! Happy weekend.

  • Another way is to use extension from vs gallery: visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/a83505c6-77b3-44a6-b53b-73d77cba84c8

There even is an option to hide main menu completely!

  • Many thanks to provide this clever tip. I hope that the Visual Studio team will include ( in the settings ) a function doing it in an automatic way ( i don't like to modify the registry because i got problems after it and i had to reinstall my operating system ). I would prefer that the VS 11 Team puts the menu not in all capital as a default, but i am not sure that it will accept to recognize that its choice was an error

  • This needs to be an option in the settings which defaults to lowercase.  Anyone that wants the ugly capitals can tick the box. Fixed!

  • Thanks ! Should be the default when installed. Still the new UI usability is terrible, will stay with 2010 for as long as possible.
