Through a process failure on our part, the Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Package was released this morning before the Title Update (TU) for MW2 was available.
Unfortunately, the Stimulus Package doesn’t function correctly without the TU. Once they had been released out of order, it wasn’t a simple thing for us to resolve. For a couple of hours the result was unpredictable but most people couldn’t get into a game through matchmaking. In technical terms, it was a big hairball that we had to unwind.
The TU and Matchmaking issues were resolved shortly after 11AM Pacific. Unfortunately, we’re still working through some billing issues. These are primarily around the redeeming of POSA cards – POSA stands for “Point of Sale Activation”. These are the cards that you buy at a retail store that they then activate for you at the checkout register. Some cards that were properly activated at the retailer are reporting back to us as not having been activated yet. You haven’t done anything wrong, you won’t lose your money, and you don’t need to go back to the store – just hang in there and try again in a few hours. The Stimulus Package has been so popular that our POSA vendors that make those magic point cards work are a little backed up.
Other billing features are seeing intermittent problems as well, but at a far lower rate than POSA redemption. You’re most likely to notice this when trying to redeem a code through Xbox.com, but you may see it on the console as well. The team has been working all of these issues on your behalf nonstop, and will continue to do so until the last of them are resolved.
As always, keep an eye on the Support page on Xbox.com and the XboxSupport Twitter for the most current information.
when will the prepaid cards be able to work. I just went to best buy and they said not to put it in till tommorow sometime
I still can't play an online game with MLB2K10...any suggestions?
xbox never has a smooth launch of anything hell normal operations are a mess in terms of the marketplace. the xmas deals never were released right including wrong files put up. the zune and xbox back-end seems like a clusterf*ck. not saying ps3 and better but it's free so they get more free passes for there f*ck ups.
i think its quite annoying that for the past few hours i cant use the points card. i was looking forward to playing tonight. :/ last time i buy a point card
no one has answered the time frame question on the pre paid card issues. I bought mine @ 4 am and now its 7pm whats the deal, should i just take an ambian an try again in the am???
Im freekin out man.
my problem isn't redeeming the card. it was able to redeem thru the console. i just haven't had my points added to my account, and i ain't trying to get the CoD map pack, i want my jimi hendrix album on rock band.
I think it should be working at 5AM same time as XBL will be finished with all the problems
and 24hours is like the last time i took my car in for service, they stripped my drain plug said 24 hours, it took almost a week. Being vague, is not good business. Remember that hole WMD thing in Iraq.
from 402 himself on twitter
"Behold! The power of feedback. We'll be integrating the new maps into all playlists as well as enabling Double XP for all playlists tomorrow"
good news but should have been the case from the start i yhink.
5 am ok thats doable. Ambian it is! lol jj ill try again @ 12 and then in the am.
._. i really hope its not going to take until the am to fix.
there are many many angry people with the point card issue,
i thought i was alone until i found gamefaqs peps with the issue.
NO OFFENSE TO MWF2 BUT YOU GUYS REALLY F*CKED UP THIS TIME!
I read somewhere that this was all caused by faiiure to follow process.? Is the person that screwed the pooch getting 50 lashes or what, I know in my place of employment if someone f'd up 20k plus customers cars, They would probably be dead. My boss is a crazy person.
My matchmaking is still not functioning correctly any suggestions or will time solve this problem?
Paid big mons to get timed exclusivity just to mess it up and get bad PR.
