Hi all -

This is the first post for our new Media Support blog. There will also be blogs starting for the Expression Web and Design teams. Your Media team consists of Anita Oakley (me), J.P. McKinney, Sekar Raju, and Will Brandt - in no particular order. We hope to provide some valuable information and maybe a few laughs along the way.

Let's see - we could start with some of the hottest issues right now:

• SP1 is out and it fixes a lot of bugs, including a fair number of crashing bugs. However, if you use custom fields regularly you may want to reconsider the service pack for the time being. Every time you save and close your catalog, another garbage character is added to the end of the custom field name. You can rename the field and it'll look fine until you save and close, whereupon it adds a character again. The product team is aware of the issue and is working on it.
• On the other hand, if you use Photoshop CS3 on the Mac, and want to see your custom fields in Photoshop's File Info dialog box, you will want to upgrade to SP1. We've updated the plug-in to work with CS3. A Windows solution is in the works.
• One of the biggest problems our users seem to encounter is blue screen errors on Vista. They are related to NVIDIA and/or RAID drivers and a conflict with QuickTime. According to our contact at Apple, Apple and NVIDIA are working on these together.
• Corrupted catalogs are a frequent issue. Often you can open a new catalog, and import the contents of your corrupted catalog into that.

For those of you that might want to remove SP1 and reinstall a previous build...

On Windows, simply uninstall through Control Panel and install the earlier version
On the Mac, Drag the Expression Media application's folder to the trash. Trash the Hard Drive>Library>Receipts>Expression Media.pkg file. Then install the older version.
