If you have upgraded to QuickTime 7.4, you may have noticed duplicate entries in the Catalog Folders section of the Organize panel. This issue occurs when you import additional items into a catalog which was created prior to QuickTime 7.4 being installed. Catalogs which are created from scratch will not exhibit this issue.
Catalogs affected by this issue can be repaired using one of several different methods which are discussed below. Annotations which were made in the existing catalog are imported into the resulting catalog with these methods.
Note: For the recovery methods to be successful, the original items need to be available. If the original items are unavailable, duplicate entries will still be present in the Catalog Folders section of the Organize Panel.
