Summer comes!  There are much more activities in the group during the summer, movies, lunch, dinner, picnic, and the upcoming company-wide picnic.  But at the same time, the work load remains heavy. J

Our group contracts some testing work out to a company in China.  There are pros and cons.  First, the labor cost is much cheaper in China.  Second, the testers in China are pretty capable of job if proper training is done. Finally, they provide a decent variety for the product.

But we also face problems.  First, the 15, 16 hours time zone difference makes it pretty hard to co-ordinate.  Second, without a decent management, the turnover rate is rather high.  Third, we are not in control of the quality of each tester from hiring, but rather have to find it out on the go.   Fourth, the jobs we gave them are not that exciting.  From my point of view, if we don’t manage them well on site, we are not getting the most of our investment.

I just hope that our management can really think about it, treating the oversea testers as an essential part of our team.
