SQL Server 2008

From the most recent TechNet Flash:

The wait is over. SQL Server 2008 has been released and is ready to deliver a rich set of integrated services that enable you to do more with your data, such as query, search, synchronize, report, and analyze. Many of you have been evaluating the SQL Server 2008 betas, and may be ready to try out the RTM version. TechNet Plus subscribers can find RTM versions now available for download. Speaking of TechNet Plus, read Keith Combs’ Blahg for his take on the UI improvements for the newly revamped TechNet Plus Subscriber Downloads page.

  • My colleague, Zain , has a great blog post with links on the what/why/when/where/how of SQL Server 2008

  • As has widely been announced in the SQL Server community, SQL Server 2008 has RTM'ed. It's now

  • I've been really looking forward to SQL Server 2008. Passing arrays as parameters to the stored procedures ought to yield a huge performance benefit in some cases. Sending a CSV string and manually parsing it isn't very elegant.

  • Me too, the enchancements are frickin awesome!

  • You know what's weird? .Net 3.5 SP1 is included in the installation media of SQL 2008 (I have it here) but at this moment it has not been released to the web yet! I assume they did not include the beta release of this package with SQL Server 2008 RTM...

  • Not so fast my friend.  Don't attempt to install SQL 2008 on a machine that also has VS 2008 SP1 (beta).  You'll find out the hard way, like did on Friday, that you cannot install the most critical piece, SQL Management Studio.  Better wait until the "real" VS 2008 SP1 (rtm) comes out before touching SQL 2008.  Rumor says it'll be out August 11, so it's not like there's a long time to wait.

  • Sorry I just now got to this but looks like the problem has been solved as sp1 went RTM today.
