What do you do when you have a lot of files open and only want to close a few of them?  You do it old school!  Just go to Window -> Windows. on the Menu Bar:

Select the files you want to close (CTRL + Click) and then click Close Window(s).  That's all there is to it!

  • Hey Now Zain,

Oh yeah & let us remember the mousers hotclicks:

Middle Click on tab to close

    Thx 4 the info,

    Catto

  • Now that's one I didn't know about but I think it only works on one tab at a time which is still very cool.  Also, don't forget CTRL + F4 to close a single window as well :)

  • If only Window->Windows was a regular VS window not modal! I would love to dock it, auto-hide it, and use it as a large-hotspot, no-click replacement for the file channel's tiny little down-arrow. I've been griping about this since VS6, and I'm going to keep on griping about it until it's fixed!

At least the multi-select is nice, and that you can sort by path.

  • MarcT, did you try IDE navigator (Ctrl + Tab) instead of clicking on file channel? Is it the "no-click replacement" you mean?
