So in my quest to find new and interesting interfaces for TFS, my buddy Chris Koenig introduced me to this little gem. It’s geared for the non-developer roles who want a nice, friendly look and feel to work items. Check it out for yourself here:

Here is some information verbatim from the site:

Description

WorkItem Glass is an alternate client for Team Foundation Server whose target audience consists of those team members not in a traditional Developer role such as Quality Assurance, Project Manager and Business Analyst. WorkItem Glass provides a Smart View into Team Foundation Server projects, hosted on tfs.visualstudio.com, by emphasizing relationships between work items.
WorkItem Glass will need your account alternate credential information for your TFS repository hosted on tfs.visualstudio.com.

  • Hi MattK, @workitemglass developers here.  We made a conscious decision to target Windows 8.x (Desktop and Surface) devices really for two reasons:  as a learning opportunity for building applications targeting these devices and to make accessing TFS data consumable for non-developer team roles.

WorkItem Glass was built using the new Windows 8 client application model that allows us to take advantage of HTML, Javascript, and CSS.

We hope you get the chance to check WorkItem Glass out on a Windows 8 device.

  • I wish it worked with on premise TFS and not just VSO, seems like a missed opportunity. :(

  • Yeah I agree, Sberens

Maybe they will make one compatible with on prem or you could roll your own maybe...
