Hi Fred,

There will definitely be Express versions when we release Visual Studio 2010. Right now you can download the Beta 1 version of Visual Studio Professional which is a superset of Express features here:

Hi Mike!

Like all betas I recommend that you *do not* install on a machine you rely on for your production work -- that's why it's a beta ;-). That said, you *should* be able to run them side-by-side.

I have tried working on an existing VS 2008 project in 2010 which works fine but the project now wont run in 2008 as it says it was created in a later version. Is it possible to set vs 2010 so that it is backward compatible with 2008 and so develope in either version? (I am targeting Net 3.5 not 4)

Hi Nigel,

Well there is always the backup that VS creates for you when you migrate ;-). But I'm pretty sure it's just the .sln file that gets changed. You should be able to create a blank solution back in VS2008 and then add your existing projects back into it. Hope that helps.

Hi Beth, I wondered if the VS team had considered providing periodic virtual machines pre-installed with Visual Studio 2010 Beta and relevant samples, fixes etc that can run on VPC2007 - perhaps obtainable by bittorrent?

Or has this method been tried and proved unpopular in the past?

Hi I tried my old wpf vs 2008 project to migrate in vs 2010, the project was converted into the vs 2010 successfully but the xaml are not opening now after the conversion into vs 2010
