A customer's experience with TFS and Teamprise for Java development

Yesterday someone forwarded me a link to a Minnesota user group presentation on using TFS and Teamprise in a mixed .NET and Java shop.  Being, admittedly, somewhat biased, I thought it was a terrific presentation on their experiences and felt is was worth sharing.  If you (like so many organizations) do both .NET development and Java development, TFS + Teamprise can be a terrific solution for you.

The one thing that made me feel bad was that they mentioned they had problems with TS Web Access and Firefox.  I've asked the team to look into that (contacting the author if necessary) to understand it and make sure it works well on Firefox.

We have been using Teamprise for almost a year in order to mix VS and Eclipse solutions in a single TFS Project and I can confirm that Teamprise connector is extremely powerful tool for integrating TFS functionality into Eclipse workspace. It saved us a lot of headache!

Brian, thanks for sharing our information.  I'll try to post on our Fire Fox experience next week.  In the mean time, I just tried it and for most users I think the primary issue is the continuous "Authentication Required" (i.e. enter your username and password.  Yes the "Use Password Manager..." is check marked) prompting.  In a quick test, I had to click Ok 18 times before the entire page rendered.  I don't think 18 is the magic number, as I tried it again and had to only click Ok 9 times.

Maybe there is some setting in Fire Fox that gets us around it, but out of the box this seems to be common behavior.
