TFSAdmin Updated for TFS 2008

The popular TFS add-on for administering permissions across TFS, SQL Server Reporting Services and Sharepoint has been updated to support TFS 2008.  The tool, call TFSAdmin, is available on CodePlex here: http://www.codeplex.com/TFSAdmin/Wiki/View.aspx?title=Home

Eventually, we plan to make this kind of functionality part of the product, but for now this is one of the best tools available for managing it.

Hi Brian, could you talk about your plans for a consolidation of the existing (and any new ones) TFS management tools, e.g. into a MMC, like the one mentioned on CodePlex http://www.codeplex.com/tfsconsole.

Also, are there any plans for a TFS Management Pack for SCOM?

We do have plans for a consolidated admin console.  I don't know what release we're going to have it though.  We'd really like to have it in Rosario but it's not looking like it's going to fit.  We'll only know for sure as the time gets closer.

Yes, we are working on a TFS Management Pack for SCOM as an out of band/Power Tool release.  I'd like to think we'll have it over the summer sometime but I haven't seen a schedule yet so I'm just guessing.

Will this allow me to do the task that I oh-so-commonly-need-to-do that I can't do in TFS that I used to be able to do in VSS, UNDO SOMEONE ELSES CHECKIN. It's a common use case that someone else, that obviously isn't in the office, has a file exclusively locked, and I need the file.

Please don't tell me to use the command line, it's 2008.

The the TFSAdmin PowerTool won't let you do that.  The good news though is that the Dec '07 Power Tool release did include that capability.  See the section on Status and Wildcard search here: http://blogs.msdn.com/bharry/archive/2007/12/21/december-07-release-of-the-tfs-power-tools-for-tfs-2008-are-available.aspx
