Another use for TFS Work Item Tracking

Our user education (documentation) team recently changed the tooling and process for tracking documentation reviews.  They have a fairly daunting requirement to track reviews of hundreds of topics by dozens of people against a rigorous schedule.  We used to have a purpose build documentation review tool but no one ever liked it.  They recently moved to a TFS/Sharepoint based solution for it.  The results from the first round have been pretty promising and I thought I'd just pass it on as a creative way to think about using TFS to track a complex process.

Here's look at what the custom work item form looks like:

And here are some of the reports they can produce off of it:

Just thought I'd share it because it struck me as a good example of a way to customize TFS to the needs of a specific process.

I'm curious how you have dealt with the licensing requirements.  Is your documentation team already using Visaul Studio?  We already have TFS 2008 in place, but have not implemented work item tracking due to the license costs for non-VS users (i.e. Product and Project Managers).

We already use TFS for other purposes. (In fact, we're the writing team for TFS).
