Just uninstall it and install the new one. There are a few new configuration steps and it will blow away your IIS vroot so any customizations you made will need to be restored.

No problem:

Upload a new Office 12 Word document (.docx) to your document store. You'll see a blank icon [1].

For Sharepoint 2.0, there is KB article [2]. With that workaround, the default Sharepoint Team Portal will display the correct icon and will offer/support normal Word functions from portal.

That the cause that I think that Web Access doesn't fully support Office 12.

Yes, all users using TFS need CALs regardless of the interface they use. If you buy a VSTS Role SKU, it comes with a CAL.

You're right. That feature has been dropped from this release. We're not sure if we will add it back in a future release at this time.

@Hakan: What was the reason for dropping this great feature? It is very convenient to be able to download complete directories on a PC that doesn't have Team Explorer, and downloading many of files one by one isn't an option either. We have this feature in our old version control system (Subversion with SVNBrowser), so we were pleased to see it in the TeamPlain 2.0 alpha. It would be very disappointing if it wasn't added back. Please reconsider this!

The ZIP download feature was using one of the pre-acquisition devBiz class libraries that wasn't ported over, so we needed to drop the feature.

We'll consider bringing it back for the future releases, but no promises.

I take that a tool such as "Team Plain" this would demand a separate CAL! I am not against that policy either.

Say If I develop a Web based Application in .NET leveraging the libraries of Team System & WSS and build features to manage Work items and doc libraries -- I don't think all the users of that web app would need a CAL for TFS.. They would be under the Volume License of the Windows Server like any other web app! Its the same concept like WSS license? agree??

That is why i questioned the licensing aspect - particularly since its a web application. The problem is all users other than developers would just need the web interface - and the no CAL factor - would be bad for Microsoft!!!

Yes, any way of accessing TFS (including VSTS Web Access - formerly TeamPlain) requires that the user have a CAL. Even if you build the web app yourself, users will need a CAL. I tried unsuccesfully to install the web access power tool. It asks to specify or browse to a folder that can be used for caching, however when I browse an select a folder it does not get the folder path, name. The text box remains blank and the next button is disabled.

Any Ideas?

Look like the TSWA Check in functionality does'nt work. I tried to check out file, modified and Checkin in there was not error, but i dont see the version created when i went for View history. Is there any that i need to set up for checkin option to work

Needing CALs is a major stumbling block, really makes Team System prohibitively expensive if you are wanting to work in an agile manner.

Could you be more clear on what you mean? Are you suggesting that people should just be able to use Team System for free? That would make it difficult for us to pay people to work on it. I'm assuming you don't mean that but rather you mean there is some particular use that you feel should not require paying or that you feel that the structure of how you pay (when buying a CAL) is inconvenient.

Just wanted to let you know I had an issue after I set up the web app, where Microsoft.TeamFoundation.WorkItemTracking.Controls was not found when I'd try to open a work item. I had to track it down in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies and copy it to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Team System Web Access\Web\bin. This is on a vanilla TFS install.

Requiring clients of applications managed by TFS to purchase CALs is prohibitive. Do you require that your clients purchase a CAL when they enter a bug or enhacment request for an application. There should be a distinction between clients of applications and members of the development team if you expect this product to take off at all.

I had the same issue with mark sowul today. I copied WorkItemTracking.Controls.dll into the ..web\bin folder as Mark described to fix this. Is it possible the TFS2008 Team Web Access install has an issue when you configure the install to use E:\program files\.. instead of the default C:\program files\.. ?
