This talk shows how the various TFS components communicate. It gives guidance on how these communication paths put constraints on the network topology. Does this mean that we can hope for some simplifications in this area?

I have long hoped that we might end up at some point with a situation where all communication between client and server runs via http (or https) over one port to one URL, and I still don't really see why this shouldn't be possible. I know, some changes would be required, but it would make things a lot easier in such a scenario.

Also, some random other points that still fit to this topic: Cardspace authentication (and with that, hopefully at some point the possibility to use Windows Live IDs or some other identity provider) would be great.

And the killer feature, although I have no idea how this could work, would be support for full offline/online dev with sync once the connection to the server is up again, something like Groove for dev. I know, this would be a huge, huge, huge thing, but still, it would be incredibly cool!
