Day 2 PejCap and Podcasts galore...
The excitement continues from the BI Conference as we build on the announcements from yesterday and dig deeper into Gemini, the value of BI across your organization, chalk-talks, and the 4th annual BI Power Hour which I had the distinct privilege of hosting. At this event, I was joined by a great team of program managers who demonstrated everything from species taxonomy management using MDM; speed battleship game built entirely in the new Report Builder 2.0 (which is just simply outstanding and NOTHING like its predecessor); how you can use PerformancePoint to enhance your relationship and dating experience and create a very unique Monopoloy-like game with in-depth statistics, spending patterns, tactics and scorecards (you will never look at this game the same way again), and using text analytics in SQL Server to analyze the current Vice-President debate between Senators Biden and Palin. The response from the audience was great as the team demonstrated "other" ways you can use BI solutions and described approaches for real-world deployments. No, I am not advocating that you build a battleship reporting game, but rather leverage the capabilities and approach in how you design your reports and how you can make them engaging and very interactive. But if you happen to create one, send it to me as I'd love to try it out. In all, the team did an outstanding job and I can't wait to see what we dream up at #5.
Also wanted to make everyone aware of the numerous podcasts the Microsoft BI team and our partners are creating, hosted on the B-Eye network covering a wide range of topics from - Gemini, Reporting Services 2008, SQL Server, SharePoint, Peformance Point, Excel/Excel Services, data mining, business value and hear from our partners on their BI strategies and integration with the systems that matter to you. I am sure I've missed a few topics so head over to the site and check them out.
