How WdfVerifier manages your KMDF driver's settings

I received a comment recently to my earliest post on WdfVerifier , that I thought deserved not only an answer, but provides an opportunity to clarify this aspect of things. There's certainly no need for this to be a mystery,as the tool is meant to help

Which update clobbered my KMDF 1.7 installation?

KB937381 is the identifier you'll see.  It is a prerequisite for an upgrade to Vista SP1, which is why we're spinning a new coinstaller out to you as fast as is practicable.  Please don't try to block it out- you'll almost certainly want SP1

Why doesn't my KMDF 1.7 Driver Install on Windows Vista?

Well, the root to this current problem lies in the story behind my last post .  If I had waited a few hours, Windows Update would have deployed a required SP1 prerequisites package, and the driver I had successfully installed would have ceased working.
