VS and SQL Officially Launched

It’s official, Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2005 are now launched.  Not only can the general public purchase both of these products, but the trial downloads are available as well as the no-cost Express downloads.

As part of the launch MSDN has released an updated Visual Studio Dev Center and we have updated the VB Dev Center.

While we did not completely overhaul the look and feel of the VB Dev Center we have modified it and incorporated lots of your feedback to try to make the experience as productive as possible.

Thankyou for all the efforts, these official releases have been eagerly anticipated by all. The next level in .Net programming was sorely needed and you haven't disappointed.

Where can the general population purchase this. Its even backordered on Microsoft's site. Most retail stores that would normally carry these products are even aware of the new release let alone have it in stock.

What gives ?

The bits have been RTMed and should be flowing faster to the resellers as the CD presses get cranking up.

If you want to get started today and get get a copy from your favorite (or any other) reseller you can download Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition for Windows Applications or Visual Web Developer Express for WEb Applciations.

Both of these are a free download. While not as advanced as VS they have lots of great features to get you rolling while the CD makers get their factories reved up.
