New PDC Pre-Con Posted: CLR Internals: Writing Great Managed Components and Applications

I don’t know if most folks saw this but there is a new PDC Pre-Con posted.  I was very involved in opening up the opportunity for this talk so I am *sure* it will be good.  (or I am in deep trouble ;-) )  Jeff deeply knows the CLR *and* developers that use it.  If you are new to the managed platform or if you just want a deep-dive on managed code this precon will definitely be worth it.

The PDC planning committee has worked hard to insure that sessions at the PDC focus on *new* content, so they almost always assume this level of background.

Please attend and tell your friends.

CLR Internals: Writing Great Managed Components and Applications
Presented by Jeffrey Richter of Wintellect.com
Whether you are just getting started with managed code or you have been writing managed code since the 2000 PDC. You are bound to learn a ton in this session. The CLR offers a myriad of features for component and application developers. These features make it easier for developers to create robust and secure code while still maintaining good performance. In this talk, we delve into the core technologies offered by the CLR: type-safety, IL and verification, garbage collection, metadata, the assembly and type loader, and much more. We'll also look at how these technologies are used by the CLR to offer versioning and serialization. In addition, by focusing on the internal structure of these technologies, you'll gain a lot of insight into how to write code that performs great and also how to locate and fix bugs more quickly. We will also explore some of the many tools and utilities that are available for .NET programmers.

This session is presented by Jeffrey Richter, a co-founder of Wintellect, a company dedicated to helping developers build better applications faster. Jeff is also the author of several .NET and Win32 programming books.
