Cool Free ASP.NET AJAX Rich Text Editor

Kannan Sundarajan has written Rich Text Editor control using ASP.NET AJAX and shared it under the MS-PL license on CodePlex. It has a very rich feature set and Kannan hopes to enhance it further in the future. Since it is a CodePlex project you can report issues and make feature requests.

Check out the live demo and see Kirti's blog for the full run down and some great screen shots.

Why has Microsoft never created something like this? Why is it not already in the Ajax Control Toolkit, it seems like the best example of an extender control...

How I can insert image?

At present you just need to insert it as img tag or copy and paste from another web page (it would create the img tag behind the scene). Note that in your web application if you need to support this you would have to provide a way for users to upload those images somewhere on the server.

At present there is no security check in built into the control. It leaves it for the web application that uses it to do it. Please file this as feature request on the codeplex site

RTE is built with some of the in-built features of the browser. So when you make it bold its the browser which creates those html tags not the control and you would find differences across IE & FF on which tag it uses. It would be nice for the control to handle all the tag conversions, but involves some work. I would be happy if you could contribute.
