Project Server 2007: Another OLAP Cube Building Gotcha – Is your alias 32 or 64 bit?

I posted a while back about an issue where the Application Server had an alias for the SQL Server, but when the Analysis Services cube build was requested the alias was passed to the Analysis Services server and it didn’t know the SQL Server by this alias

A couple more cube build error messages you might come across.

A couple more cube build error messages I have seen recently. The first is related to a time out with Analysis Services 2005 and the clue is that failure will be just over an hour into the build (assuming the timeout is still the default 3600 seconds).

RESOLVED! ActiveX Component Can't Create Object: Cube build failure against SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services

The original posting is still repeated below to help with other's troubleshooting. I uninstalled the client tools to double check if the original instructions were OK. It turned out that I didn't have the SQL Server 2005 Management Objects installed -
