My Favorite CodePlex Projects

In case you didn’t know CodePlex is Microsoft’s site for “Open Source” projects. That’s right – source code and binaries you’re free to use, or if you really want to help others, join the projects they belong to. You’ll also notice that all the samples for SQL Server are moving there as well.

 

I have a few favorite projects that I’ve been reviewing, so take a look – and if you’ve got the coding chops, dive in and join the projects:

 

Everyone asks us when we’re going to make a web-based management tool for SQL Server. We already have!

Something we all need to do from time to time – script out a database. This one has a promising start:

I like this one – it compares databases. We get asked about this one all the time, and I think it complements the tablediff.exe program you get with SQL Server:

This one also has a good start – it’s a maintenance utility for SQL Server Express. Very handy:

I hope this project gets a lot of folks helping out – I like the concept. It walks a tree for table or view:
