Final V1 binaries on MSDN

Just wanted to make sure everyone saw the fact that availability of our final V1 bits are now available! See Gert's post for more details. I do want to emphasize the following sentence in Gert's post:

"The full product download on MSDN is a full image only, so 2.9 GB or so, if you already own Visual Studio Team Suite, you can simply download the trial SKU (which is only 20MB) and install this on top of your Team Suite instance. The installer will detect that you have a full license instead of a trial license and do the right thing."

The only addition to this is that if you do only download the 20MB trial image, that will *not* include the latest documentation. And again, the 20MB download requires that you either have Visual Studio Team Suite already installed, or the trial edition of Suite already installed.

You can get the latest DBPro V1 documentation here: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa833253.aspx. For further details of what's in that documentation, please see Steven Powell's forum post about those docs here.

Also, I should add, that the November continuous publishing update of the docs will go live around Dec. 15th.

HTH,

Cameron

Wanted to mention a couple of things today... Firstly, if you are an MSDN subscriber you may have seen

# re: Final V1 binaries on MSDN @ Saturday, December 09, 2006 9:32 AM

In an earlier post you mentionned that DBPro RTM could be installed on top of VS 2005 Pro (not Team Edition).

http://blogs.msdn.com/camerons/archive/2006/08/10/693908.aspx

I have VS 2005 Pro with MSDN subscription.

At this moment, when I log in to my subscription, I see a hive named "Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for Database Professionnals" but the only entry under it is "MSDN Library for Visual Studio Team Edition for Database Professionnals (December 2006)".

Will there be a version of DBPro RTM available through MSDN that will install on top of VS 2005 Pro or will I have to buy that version off the shelf?

I have VS 2005 Team Edition for Software Developers and the trial SKU refuses to install itself. Is there a way to get DBPro installed?

I'm really looking forward using it. As DMuri and Duginov already mentioned Team Suite has to be installed to use this trial(?) version.

I've read on the msdn faq for dbpro that dpro will be released as a separate product. Any idea when this version can be expected?

DBPro can be purchased now as a seperate product via MSDN. Please contact you Microsoft Sales rep for more details.

Sorry for posting this a second time but... I have an MSDN Professionnal subscription and can't seem to be able to access the RTM build of DBPro (only the documentation is available to me).

Cameron, is it normal that my MSDN Professionnal subscription doesn't give me access to DBPro ?  :-(

Will I have to buy it as a separate product although I'm already paying for VS development tools ?

TIA

Hi DMuri -

Cameron asked me to respond to your query. If you own an MSDN Professional subscription then this actually does not entitle you to any of the Visual Studio Team System products - you are entitled to Visual Studio 2005 Professional edition, hence this is why you don't see DBPro on the download site. In order to qualify for DBPro as part of your subscription you would need to either own Visual Studio Team Edition for Database Professionals w/ MSDN Premium, or Visual Studio Team Suite with MSDN Premium (Team Suite gives you access to all 4 Team Edition roles). I hope this helps.
