Blogging adventures on MSDN

A year ago, I scoffed at blogging as screaming into the wind.  That was when I first tried out MSN Spaces.  I was on the Messenger team and felt pressure to try out the new service since we have friends on that team.

I posted a random thought here or there for a few months.

Then I had a vacation.  And came back with lots of photos.  And suddenly, blogging seemed like an OK way to share my pictures and my vacation story, rather than writing a separate email to everyone I know or spamming everyone with the same one.

And then I started putting up rantings about the sports I follow (mostly tennis and football).

And then I graduated from Seattle U (finally) with my Masters in Software Engineering and wanted to celebrate and prove it actually happened.  And of course, then I had a lot more free time too.  So I started blogging a little bit about technology, and my hiking trips, and so on and so on.

Then, I heard about MySpace, and just wanted to try it out.  I heard it was very music oriented, and I like going to live shows a lot.  So I started one up.  And posted a few concert photos and reviews.

Finally, I changed teams here at Microsoft from Messenger & Outlook Express, to Office Live.  And I've mentioned Office Live a couple times, including a new entry when they shipped a few days ago.  Some folks on another blog site took notice and started asking me for contacts and interviews.  And they referred to my personal blog on MSN Spaces.

Long story short (too late), I've slowly recognized the value of blogging over the last year, and it has become somewhat part of my work routine.  So now I'm starting my 3rd (aaaggh!) blog, this time on MSDN, so I can move my work/software related musings off of my personal site and to a more unofficially official work blog.
