About Me

I am Developer Evangelist for Microsoft's Northeast district, which includes New England and upstate New York.  What does a "Developer Evangelist" do?  Well, I found a handy list on Alex Lowe's blog and adapted it here:

  • Educating customers on .NET development topics
  • Working with user groups to ensure they get adequate support from Microsoft
  • Keeping abreast of the next-generation technologies currently in development
  • Writing reference/sample code for customers
  • Working with local influentials such as MVPs and RD to ensure they have what they need to be great customer evangelists
  • Organizing and managing local developer events (such as Code Camps)
  • Collecting developer feedback related to software development on the Microsoft platform and providing it back to the product teams

I've spent many years as a participant and contributor to the New England developer community and am excited to be in a role where I can make a large difference for that community.

I joined Microsoft having worked as an architect and lead developer at a variety of area companies, including over six years with Monster Worldwide (aka Monster.com) where I was Lead Architect and Director of Application Architecture.  I have also worked in senior-level architectural and development positions at VistaPrint in Lexington, MA, Staples in Framingham, and IDX Systems Corporation (now part of GE Healthcare) in Boston.  I have also worked as a consultant for a several other New England companies.

I am co-author of "Professional Visual Studio 2005 Team System" published by WROX in 2006 and of "Essential Windows Communication Foundation" to be published soon by Addison-Wesley.

I hold a B.S. in Management Information Systems and an M.S. in Computer Science, both from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI).

I'm certainly passionate about computers, programming, and technology, but I also enjoy racquetball, craft beer, music, PC and XBox gaming, (being bad at) golf, reading and, above all, time with my wife and our two daughters.
