Windows CE Networking Team WebLog

Windows CE Networking - from NDIS to TCP to SOAP to VOIP and everything in between.

Windows Embedded CE 6.0 == Windows CE 6.0 == WinCE 6 == CE6 == Yamazaki

The new name for Windows CE is Windows Embedded CE 6.0.  Some of the marketing guys are unhappy when I call it only "Windows CE", never mind WinCE or just CE.  Though I really really doubt any of you would be confused or care, I'll call out officially that all these are the same thing.  Only the MBA who has taken a lot of classes in branding really cares about this stuff :).

Yamazaki was the code name for the CE6 project.  If you catch me calling it Yamazaki in public that does merit a wrist slap as branding is confusing enough as-is.

If it's any consolation, it's not just "Windows Embedded CE 6.0" that I'm bad on.
I still catch myself calling the Vista team "the NT guys" and stuff of theirs that we port (like MSXML) lives in E:\nt on my hard drive.  So maybe in 6 or 7 years I'll finally get into the Windows Embedded CE groove -- assuming they don't change the name again!
